Healthy Homes Hub Launch Event: Review

5th December 2024

Jenny Danson

On Tuesday this week (4th December 2024), the Healthy Homes Hub (HHH) officially launched in style, hosting a packed event at Amazon's prestigious headquarters in London. With 65 attendees from across the housing sector, local councils, academic institutions, and our amazing member organisations, the day was a showcase of the innovation, collaboration, and shared passion driving healthier, more sustainable homes.

Hosted by AWS, the venue set the perfect stage for a day filled with inspiring talks, lively networking, and game-changing ideas.

Creating Buzz: The People Who Made It Special

The energy in the room was palpable, with a diverse audience of thought leaders, housing professionals, and researchers eager to share their expertise and learn from one another. Conversations flowed over coffee and lunch, as attendees swapped stories, forged new connections, and left brimming with ideas to take back to their organisations.

Speakers included Connie Jennings, whose incredible work with WHG’s Community Champions programme had the room talking about how lived experience can be a superpower in transforming communities. Luke Graham wowed us with his forward-thinking insights into the intersection of technology, health, and quality of life, urging us to think about the long-term impacts of our decisions today. Ailsa Dunn and Wes Baker shared their vision for the revolutionary Prima Group and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust project, showcasing how integrating housing data into NHS health records could reshape the way we tackle health inequalities and preventative care.

 Spotlight on the Sessions

The agenda was packed with standout moments:

  • Keynote Addresses: From the challenges of retrofitting homes to the opportunities of integrating housing data into health records, the speakers inspired us to think bigger and bolder.

  • Panel Discussions: Featuring a dynamic mix of voices from the housing and health sectors, the panels explored practical strategies for making healthier homes a reality.

  • Networking Sessions: AWS provided the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations and connections. Attendees left not just with new ideas but also new allies to drive change.
