This, in turn, has led to a proliferation of damp and mould cases in large sections of its stock.
It was around 2018/19 that we began identifying a problem in our properties. Not only are we very densely populated, but we’re also in East London and a lot of our properties were built in the 1960s as post-war housing because we were right by the Docklands, where everything was destroyed in the Blitz.
We identified that there were issues with mould in particular homes just because of the construction of the buildings, so we started looking for some solutions as to how we could monitor it, because obviously it’s very labour intensive to send surveyors out every time somebody raises a concern.
